Racing in May 9

Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer. He's a demon on wheels..

So my favourite Mach 5 has gone from manga to movie.

I've seen the trailer. Speed's (Emile Hirsch) too chubby and too ang moh-looking, Trixie's (Christina Ricci) too ghostly looking and Taejo's (Rain) too oh-so-good-looking. Plus, Spritle's some little fat white boy who is not even the slightest bit adorable. The only one who most resembled his animated self was Chim Chim! And he's a chimpanzee!

The entire movie's all so digitalized, all those flashing lights and multi-colours. It utterly fails to capture the spirit of Speed Racer! And compared to those flashing lights, the Mach 5 appears dull and so un-important. It's the Mach 5! The star of the show! The world's most superb automobile! The ultimate driving machine!

Yucks. I might just boycott the movie altogether. There are just some things you shouldn't bring to life.

*I think it's hilarious how the international trailer has a lot more shots of Rain in it. hahaha~
