rat dissection

ok so i just got off from dissecting my own rat!! yes a rat!! i thought it would be bad, really smelly and stuff. i had mrs claudia ong's story playing in my head over and over again. mrs claudia ong was my primary five form teacher. will always remember her. she's one teacher who made me feel really good about myself. so anyway, she was telling us that when she had to dissect a rat when she was a student, she got a pregnant one. plus!! they didn't soak the rats in i-forgot-the-name-of-the-chemical for a week to kill the rats. they just gased them to sleep back then. so not only was her rat pregnant, they were all still alive!! babies and mom!! so when she cut the rat open.. i'll leave the rest to your imagination.

so that was what was going through my mind when i entered the lab today. that and the fact that i didn't save my lab report, which i stayed up til midnight doing, properly last night so i lost everything and had to redo it til three in the morning. i hate myself sometimes. this woman is lacking major sleep!!

turns out, because they soaked the rats in i-forgot-the-name-of-the-chemical, the rats were no longer white and black and furry. they were yellow and hard. reminded me lots like those wax ducks or sausages hanging in the market. that kinda helped actually. i think if it were white and furry, i wouldn't have the heart to cut it open. ellis, my lab partner, was really sweet. she knew that this was my first time dissecting a rat (we've dissected squid and crayfish so far) so she let me have the honors of snip snip snipping away. she had to guide me so much. haha.

so my hands kinda stink of medical soap, my eyes are puffy, i am spacing off in class and i've got to go get my stupid stupid stupid lab report submitted soon.
